The knee-wall completed, Diane Tucker and Liz Ledwidge brought in the growing tables they made. What a marvelous crafts(wo)manship!
With the glass and aluminum cap assembled and installed, the plants get a much needed reprieve from the winter cold.
A new (or old) design for the greenhouse! We decided to reuse the existing shed structure and knee wall of the old greenhouse. Therefore, the re-construction would involve: re-siding, insulation, updating electrical fixtures, and (ta-dah!) replacing the glass structure. Meanwhile, we await for a warm (at least 60F) and sunny weekend!
The end of August saw the careful deconstruction of the greenhouse starting with the glass cap. All the glass panels were re-purposed by some of Rockhaven's volunteers.
She looses the stone chimney and the knee wall but gets new 30-year architectural roofing and (surprise!) green-colored siding! |
